Always on the look out for a new ‘IT’ restaurant or to revive an old fave in the city.. here are my latest loves..
1. TAO downtown
It’s totally OTT, but a great place for a group of friends or a fun date at the bar. The asian-fusion style food is super rich and decadent to match. More touristy than locals, but very fun.
2. Supper. East Village
Love the simple italian food and cosy interiors. It’s a a tiny space, so it’ll be a squeeze and you can’t book, but worth the wait. Exposed brick walls and chandeliers is this oldie-but-a-goodie a signature style. Red wine and delish italian food – can’t be beat.
Another NYC classic. Order the sashimi.. seriously you’ll wonder why you ever ordered from other japanese restaurants before.
4. Buvette, West Village
Eat at the bar or out in the tiny courtyard at the back. Amazing tapas sharing dishes. Great wine. Expect a long wait – but worth it. Tip: try go early! Brunch or Dinner – both amazing.
5. Morandi, West Village
A favourite – year round. Its big and busy with excellent Italian food.. casual or dressy, what ever you make it to be. Great for larger groups – but book ahead.
6. Minetta Tavern, Greenwich Village
You don’t get more New York than this. Famous for the burgers, steaks and fries.. indulge and top it off with a dirty martini.
