Kamalame Cay Resort and Spa, Bahamas
When was the last time you saw the sky full of stars at night? If you can’t remember, you’re long over due for a stay at the luxury resort and spa, Kamalame Cay, Andros Islands, Bahamas.
It’s the ultimate getaway, it takes 3 hours from NYC to Bahamas, about an hour from Miami. Once you arrive in Nassau it’s a short small plane ride, jet or helicopter over to the Island of Andros.
Arrive in Style
As they say, enjoy the journey, not just the destination. It’s definitely part of the experience just to get there – so relax, take it all in and prepared for a breathtaking view. It will test your sense of adventure, which is what traveling should be about.
Once you arrive at port on the island, a small open-aired ferry takes you across the water, and you instantly feel a sense of calm and detach from the rest of the world. City life is a distant memory.
The resort is spacious, surrounded by lush green landscape and sparkling blue water. Each villa is completely private, giving you a sense you could be the only ones on the island, which gives you space and time – a true luxury. The villa design is modest, though very spacious, making it feel like your beach hut right on the sand. The architecture is simple and interiors can be describes as ultimate beach-chic, which only enhances your sense of calm and ease around the place.
Each Villa faces the ocean and the path to the ocean is paved with seashells beckoning you to jump right in. Take advantage of the no wi-fi and no TV to lounge and relax in your private beach area, which includes hammock, lounge chair and of course the glistening ocean.
Every part of the experience fosters this idea to tune out and take advantage of being in the moment. The staff quietly leaves a breakfast basket at your door each morning, so no need to rush to a set dining time. The basket is filled with delicious fresh fruit, warm pastries and, juice and even a couple hard-boiled eggs… just perfect. Of course breakfast wouldn’t be right without some fresh brewed coffee, which comes with the basket in a thermos, so it stays warm and delicious, even if you decide to sleep in. These touches make a world of difference and can really make a resort stand out from the rest.
Make sure to book in for some of the great activities they have to offer too. The scuba or snorkeling was great and a must-do while you’re here. We jumped onto the resort’s boat and speed out to 3 gorgeous destinations spots in the ocean to take advantage of the spectacular sea life, coral and creatures that lurk beneath the crystal blue waters. After a few dives in and out at different locations we were offered a cold glass of Rose champagne… and a relaxing cruise around the bright blue waters. Doesn’t get more Princess than that.
Of course, our review wouldn’t be complete without the Spa. The Spa is located in a villa at the end of the jetty out into the ocean. A dramatic view hits you as you enter this humble ocean-warn villa. The beauty of having an incredible view while you’re having your treatment doesn’t go to waste when you get to hear the soft sounds of the ocean around you and a glass plate under the massage table so you can peer through to the ocean below while you are getting your treatment. To indulge and truly take advantage of the Spas offerings, try something special like the body wrap rather than just a massage, which you can get anywhere.
Perfect girls getaway
In the evening mix your own drinks at the tiki bar by the pool before heading up to enjoy the fresh grilled fish our homemade favorites like chicken pot-pie. Dressing up is not required, though never hurts to pull out your favorite resort wear collection, perfect place to do it, just leave the heels at home.
Be dazzled by the stars at night. You could take your personal buggy back to the villa after a great dinner, or instead just a slow stroll, completely safe, and enjoy the warm tropical air. Take the time to look up and be reminded just how small we are. It’s a great feeling.
Three days here will make all the difference to your state of mind, sleep habits and even feeling a few pounds lighter. What’s not to love about that?
