Have you wondered what I look for in my reviews? After staying in as many hotels, resorts and spas I have over the years, and also being a contributor for the Huffington Post it can sometimes be a blur. I look out for 4 key elements that hotels must have to stand out and for me to write a rave review.
These 4 elements are key to the top hotel reviews:
The hotel, resort or spa must have well maintained design. If the design is contemporary or more traditional, it doesn’t really matter, as long as the furniture is well maintained, stylish and always looks impeccable. I try source hotels that are innovative, chic and push the boundaries in terms of design. This always makes for an interesting feature article. Also, I love interviewing the designers to find out what their vision was for the space and why it works. I specifically look out for the design details; everything from the floors to the furniture, lighting and small details such as brand of shampoo for the shower.
- Location, location, location
Why is this so important? Well, for women traveling solo, its crucial. You want to feel safe and be able to stroll the city into the night without worrying about getting back to the hotel.
- Great food
It’s no longer uncool to stay at he hotel for dinner or a cocktail by the bar. Hotels are getting smart at designing menus for their guest, making it one of the key attractions for staying the night. Watching the chefs in action is also an awesome way to entertain yourself while having dinner solo. Try grabbing a seat at the open kitchen or bar to keep you company.
- Spa & fitness
There are no excuses for not staying in shape when traveling and sometimes its great to take time out and finally get that self-care treatment you’ve been dreaming about. Spas and gyms have become essential for the health-conscious traveller.
There you have it.. my inside tips to writing a great article. If the hotel has these 4 items, writing a rave review is easy!
