Long Beach, NY
Got 2 days and love the sunshine? Head to the exclusive Allegria Hotel right on the new promenade on gorgeous Long Beach.
The recent storm brought Long Beach to its knees – with though the boardway – there was no easy way to admire the ocean in all its glory. Now, a sparing new structure brings with it new life to this beach town.
A weekend in Long Beach:
1pm. Check out your gorgeous room – stunning views, great fresh interiors… off to a good start
1.30pm: Sunday brunch @ Allegria. Make sure you have literally not eaten all morning and get busy with the incredible selection of food and complementary brunch drink. Mimosa, Bloody Mary or a glass of champagne perhaps? Into seafood? Try the lobster. Or cave into your sweet tooth with a macaroon or warm bread and butter pudding. It’s all inclusive, and the dinning room looks right out onto the ocean. What a great combination.
2.30pm. No room left in stomach. Digest and head to the beach for a walk along the sore to walk off that incredible feast. The Allegria staff will bring you a sun-bed and towels to the beach for you to relax and watch passersby.
4.30. Reapply sunscreen. Play a game of bat n ball. Keep on enjoying the afternoon sun.
5.30. Head to the food trucks on the beach for a little snack or delish acai smoothy.
6pm. Check out the state of the art gym, followed by a dip in the gorge roof-top pool…
8pm. Dinner. Try Allegria’s restaurant or pick from LB’s huge selection of restaurants. We tried this quaint and reasonably Luls’s – its got a great little outdoor area, perfect for a hot summer night.
1030. Good nights sleep (you can catchup on all that lack of sleep usually associated with living in New York City).
9am. Jump into the ocean. Its not like you get to do this every day in the city!
11.30am Head to Bob’s natural food store. A must. Order up big. Immunity smoothies, salmon salad wraps, gluten free, dairy free, tofu… you want detox? You’ve come to the right place. Plus it is delicious… seriously worth the visit.
Pick up some healing candles, soaps and other gems for the home while you’re here.
12.30. If the weather isn’t great go get a mani-pedi.. cheap as chips on a Monday ($15!) There’s a couple great places on W. Park St – just oppose the train station.
Weather still shinning? One last dip on the pool – how can you resist?
